Karting at Thruxton
The team headed to Thruxton Karting Circuit for some high speed antics. Adrenalin and a competitive edge made the racing close, hotly contested and most of all enjoyable. Surprise results, frustrations and exhilaration were shared amongst the team during the day until the final race revealed the true podium positions that were hard fought for.
Meet Your Navy - Portsmouth - July 2008
Now it is not everyday that a girl can say she has been protected by the Royal Marines, or zoomed over the Historic Dockyard of Portsmouth on the UK’s longest Zip wire, but that is exactly how Dee spent her day when she was invited to the Meet Your Navy event in Portsmouth in July 2008.
Bavaria 2008
Arriving in a picture postcard setting I was really keen to get outside and experience what is regarded as the cleanest air in Europe. Bavaria had a good snow covering, blue sky and 450km of tracks to explore on skis.
The Aviva Walk 2007
The low-lying mist on Richmond Park cleared at about 0730hrs this morning as the sun rose. 1500 participants of The Aviva Walk London to Breakthrough Breast cancer entered the park and frightened the inquisitive deer away. The tea and coffee was poured and bacon butties eaten. After a brief introduction we had a warm up led by Jo Uffendell to get the cold and sleepy muscles woken up for the 44km that lay ahead.
Race for Life Southampton 2007
I joined 10 000 women on Southampton Common with the fifty strong Team Caffari troops for the amazing Race for Life event this morning.
Lymington 10k 2007
As a sailor I am only too aware of how hostile the sea can be and how fortunate we are in the UK to have the wonderful talents of the RNLI on hand. They do a fantastic job and I have both witnessed their skills on the water and now also am proud to know some of the volunteers that willingly give their time to help others.
Flora London Marathon 2007
Well I have finished the Flora London Marathon and I am proudly wearing my foil wrap and my medal, but I also feel very frustrated and disappointed.

Quest Adventure Race (31 March)
First Adventure Race of the season for me this weekend. I took part in the Questars Race in the New Forest in beautiful weather.
Silverstone Half Marathon
This weekend my focus was back on the marathon preparation. I ran the Silverstone Half Marathon. Not wanting to run my first event on my own I begged Jo to keep me company. She has run a half marathon before and was great for moral support that I felt I needed as nerves took hold. Forgetting it was mother’s day; I need to thank Gary, Jo’s husband and Louie, her son for lending me Jo for the day. I really appreciate it.
Race for Life - 16th July 2006
The sun shone and about 10 000 women donned their running shoes on Southampton Common this morning to raise money for Cancer Research UK. It was Southampton's 10th year of hosting the Race For Life, an event that has grown in strength from year to year.
Yet again I was delighted to announce Team Caffari's presence there made possible by Kensington Mortgages and with a team of nearly 30 runners/walkers we raised in the region of three thousand pounds.
Flying with the RAF
I arrived at RAF Valley on Thursday afternoon. Flt Lt Pete Cooper, (aka 'Coops') who was to be responsible for me on the ground as well as in the air, met me at the train station. After checking in at the Officers Mess and getting the A/V equipment ready for my presentation I was fitted with my flight gear. We had lots of giggles as specialist equipment was fitted and all the functions were explained. I was experiencing information overload and I was worried that I may miss something as I was so excited. Getting changed into my flying kit made me smile as I remembered all the films I have watched, and I couldn't help but have 'Top Gun' images come to the forefront of my mind. I must admit the long johns are definitely the sexy part of the kit.
Cycle Round the Isle of Wight
I have sailed around it and now I can say that I have cycled around it. That is the Isle of Wight. After six hours in the saddle I was keen to sit on a comfy seat onboard the Red Funnel Ferry. We had cycled in the increasing wind and cold rain for six hours and I can assure everyone that the Isle of Wight is not flat. In fact, Blackgang Chine and the steady incline that leads past St Catherine's Oratory was extremely tough on the legs, but what goes uphill must come downhill and boy was it worth it.
Dynamic Adventure Race
This was another first for Team Caffari. We took part in an Adventure Race in the stunning setting of the Malborough Downs. Thanks to Kensington Mortgages, who are sponsoring these events that are leading up to the big adventure in Tasmania, we entered a team in a race that involved two hours of running followed by three hours of cycling.
Pink Aerobics
Beautiful sunshine, 1000 people, a sea of pink and some banging tunes and some fun aerobics. This was the scene yesterday in Regents Park, London for the Pink Aerobics.
Marlow Rowers Revenge
I continued to push the boundaries and my personal limits and faced my very first triathlon at Marlow's Rowers Revenge. This event incorporated 4km on a Concept II Rower, 25km cycling through the rolling countryside of Buckinghamshire and finally a 7.5km run along the towpath following the River Thames.
Helly Hansen Adventure Serires
Sunday saw some members of the team for Tasmania and I meet at Woolmer Forest in Hampshire for Helly Hansens Sweatshop Adventure Race. It was a huge event with nearly 400 competitors and over 150 teams taking part. I was using it in my build up to taking part in Mark Webbers Pure Tasmania Challenge in November and it was great to see him there being part of a team focused on being at the front. The race itself involved running, cycling, running, kayaking and some more running with a few surprise disciplines along the way. I completed the event in a little over five hours. It was long, tough and definitely the hardest race I have taken part in, but I finished it and I was smiling, so I am looking forward to Tasmania.
Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge
The Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge supports the charities, TLC for kids and the Cancer Council. These charities focus on helping the children and the families that are affected by cancer. Their suffering can go on for their whole life and by pushing ourselves for the next few days of the race we too will feel a little pain and suffering, however it is short lived and experienced by choice, but is able to raise awareness and more importantly donations that help in a small way.
