Sailing solo for nearly six months to become the first woman to sail 'the wrong way' round the world, Dee has faced icebergs, intense sleep deprivation, technical failures and the worst that the Southern Ocean can muster. Dee speaks from experience of staying motivated when things get tough, achieving high performance, self-belief and succeeding against the odds.

As a former secondary school PE teacher, Dee takes a keen interest in the tools that are used for learning within schools and has seen firsthand how successful the medium of sport can be in capturing children's imagination and motivating them to learn.
In the lead up to the Vendée Globe 2008/9, the Dee Caffari Education Pack was designed and launched to engage primary school children over the duration of 3 month race. Close to 100 schools signed up for the pack and Dee gave a stimulating talk to a group of local schools before and after her epic voyage to help bring the material to life.
