March and April seem to have merged into one long month. For me it has been a heady mix of travel to different locations, sailing on different boats and spending time with wonderful people.

I joined the Swan 58 WaveWalker for the BVI Spring Regatta this year. The conditions were near perfect, with good strong Caribbean winds blowing and beautiful sunny days. The courses took us around and between the various islands which kept us busy throughout. With the competition pushing us hard, we made progress throughout the week and saw consistent improvement each day. We were delighted to close the final race with a win and finished 2nd overall.

From the British Virgins Islands, I went straight to join The Famous Project in France. Our focus now is on the Maxi Trimaran IDEC and pulling our team together. The boat has spent a year without any love and it very much showed. Our team building process began with six of us cleaning inside and out and starting work on some of the essential jobs that, once complete, will allow us to go sailing.

We not only learnt about each other and how best to communicate, we also learnt about our boat and it really felt like a step in the right direction. The plan next is to check all the systems and sails so that by the end of May we will be able to actually go sailing, which is super exciting.

That really isn’t very far away and I can’t wait!
