Dee Caffari
Dee Caffari has sailed around the world six times. She is the first woman to have sailed single-handed and non-stop around the world in both directions and the only woman to have sailed non-stop around the world a total of three times.
In 2006 Dee became the first woman to sail solo, non-stop, around the world against the prevailing winds and currents and was awarded an MBE in recognition of her achievement.
Dee’s Diary
Good wishes for the festive season
As we approach the end of an eventful 2019, I reflect on a year that has been an interesting mix of activities for me personally. I have competed in a variety of sailing events across the globe and been fortunate to sail with some talented teams and individuals along…
Sailing now and in the future
As we come towards the close of 2019, life has been a good mix of sailing and speaking. Wind of Change Sailing Team In the last edition of The Ocean Race I had the pleasure of sailing with Francesca Clapcich onboard Turn the Tide on Plastic. Francesca had…
Les Voiles de St Tropez & Barcolana
St Tropez on the French riviera is playground to the rich and famous and, at the end of September, is transformed into a yachting mecca. Attracting classic yachts as well as hi-tech super fast modern yachts, they all have one aim – to go racing. The Les Voiles…
Southampton International Boat Show shapes up on sustainability

Rolex Fastnet Race 2019 – S/Y AEGIR
What a spectacle! The start of 400 boats leaving the Solent for the Fastnet Race at 15 minute intervals really is an impressive sight. The difference this year was that the wind allowed us to exit the Solent in one hit. There was better breeze than expected and with…
Summer sailing
So July was mainly taken up sailing the Pacific from LA to Hawaii in the Transpac. You can check out my earlier race report blog for more detail but, suffice to say, it was a huge success with our team winning our division by 12 minutes and securing no less than four…
Transpac Race onboard Oaxaca, Santa Cruz 50
The start line on Friday 12th July was a busy one with many competitors scheduled to begin that day. There are three start days for various classes, each starting on a different day and the faster boats departing on the final start on Saturday 13th July. For us it was…
